Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers open best-of-seven tonight
June 4, 2025, Mississauga, ON – Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) alumni are on both teams playing in the 2025 Stanley Cup final.
The best-of-seven championship series between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers begins tonight in Edmonton.
Former Georgetown Raider Evan Rodrigues and his Panther teammates are attempting to repeat as Cup champs.
The Oilers’ roster features former OJHLers Zach Hyman (Hamilton Red Wings, now Markham Royals), Connor Brown and Darnell Nurse (St. Michael’s Buzzers), Jake Walman (Toronto Jr. Canadiens), Evan Bouchard (Oakville Blades) and Corey Perry (Peterborough Bees).
Edmonton Assistant General Manager Bill Scott was a marketing intern with the OJHL’s Stouffville Spirit.
Florida was 47-31-4 (98 points) in the regular season, finishing third in the Atlantic Division. It defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes in the playoffs to win the Eastern Conference.
Edmonton was 48-29-5 (101 points), finishing third in the Pacific Division. It defeated the Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars to win the Western Conference.
