COLLINGWOOD BOOKS SPOT IN CENTENNIAL CUP PLAYOFF ROUND

The Collingwood Blues will compete in the playoffs at the 2023 Centennial Cup in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

The Ontario Junior Hockey League champions defeated the Kam River Fighting Walleye 4-1 Tuesday afternoon to move to 3-0-0 in the 10-team tournament.

Bryce Sutherland, Dylan Hudon, Cam Garvey and Ethan Broderick scored for the Blues who led the Walleye, from near Thunder Bay, ON, 2-0 after two periods. 

The first period was scoreless. Mark McIntosh had two assists for the Blues.

The Blues outshot the Walleye 39-23. Noah Pak earned the win.

Collingwood completes its preliminary round schedule when it faces the host Portage Terriers (2-0-1) Wednesday.

Quarter-final playoff games will be played Friday with the semifinals on Saturday.

Following the preliminary round, the first-place team overall picks which semifinal it will play in.

The championship final goes Sunday at 4 p.m. EDT
