The Collingwood Blues were eliminated from the 2023 Centennial Cup in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba Friday.
The Ontario Junior Hockey League champions fell 4-2 to the Ottawa Jr. Senators in the first of two quarterfinals at the national Jr. A championships.
Carter Diceman had his second straight two-goal game for Collingwood, who trailed 2-1 after two periods.
Ottawa scored the game winner with 3:41 to play before adding an empty-netter at 19:23.
The Blues outshot Ottawa 34-29.
The Blues went 3-1-0 in the round-robin at the 10-team, 10-day event.
The host Portage Terriers will face Nova Scotia’s Yarmouth Mariners in the other quarter-final Friday at 8:30.
The division winners, Alberta’s Brooks Bandits and Battlefords, earned byes into Saturday’s semifinals.
The championship final goes Sunday at 4 p.m. EDT
