Krmpotic, a 2007-born defenceman from Georgetown, is in his first season with the Raiders.

He has scored two goals and nine assists in 43 OJHL games this season with Georgetown. Niko has cemented himself on the blueline for the Raiders this season. He has grown nicely into his role in the defence core and adapted his game to the OJHL’s level of play, the Raiders said on their website.

“Niko has been known to command the play physically and is not afraid to lay down a big hit on an opponent. He is a naturally smooth skater and is fluid in transition through the zones on the ice.”

“We are extremely proud of Niko and this accomplishment,” Raiders General Manager Mike Dukeshire said Wednesday. “Niko has become a key part of our defence corps and we are excited to continue to watch his development in the future with Brantford.”

Brantford’s  ninth-round selection, 169th overall, in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Krmpotic continues a very valuable pipeline to the Halton Hills Hurricanes U16AAA program, where the Bulldogs drafted captain Lawson Sherk and goaltender Matteo Drobac from.

Krmpotic skated in 36 games in the Hurricanes’ 2022-23 season, netting four goals and 15 assists while showing his leadership abilities in serving as an assistant captain.

“Niko Krmpotic is a player we are very excited about as an organization and we are very happy to receive his commitment.” said Bulldogs General Manager Matt Turek. “Niko is a player who impressed us with his skills, intelligence and character immediately and he’s continued to build on it over the season. We are excited to watch Niko’s continued progress and see him as a large part of the Bulldogs moving forward.”

Congratulations to Niko and best of luck in the OHL!

The OJHL has had more than 45 NCAA Division I scholarship commitments already this season.
