Hoskin’s 31 points lead the nation among freshmen and rank tied for 12th among all skaters
Trevor Hoskin, last season’s Ontario Junior Hockey League and Canadian Junior Hockey League MVP, has added another honour to his resume.
Atlantic Hockey America named the Niagara freshman its Rookie of the Month for January today. Hoskin, who also won the conference rookie award for September/October played three years for the OJHL’s Cobourg Cougars.
He was selected by the Calgary Flames in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Hoskin continued his strong rookie campaign by collecting 14 points in nine games in the month of January. Hoskin scored four goals and dished out 10 assists in the month, while orchestrating four multi-point efforts.
The freshman forward’s January was highlighted by a three-game stretch in which he tallied three points in each game from Jan. 18-25. He scored a goal and picked up two assists on Jan. 18 vs. Mercyhurst and on Jan. 24 at RIT, then recorded three assists on Jan. 25 at RIT.
Hoskin’s seven-game point streak from Jan. 4-25 was his second seven-game point streak of the season, and the Belleville native is up to 10 goals and 21 assists so far in 2024-25. Hoskin’s 31 points lead the nation among freshmen and rank tied for 12th among all skaters, while also being tied for the AHA lead. He was named AHA Rookie of the Week on Jan. 27.
Atlantic Hockey America also honoured for their outstanding on-ice performances in games during the month of January Niagara senior Jay Ahearn (Forward), Army sophomore Mac Gadowsky (Defenseman) and Holy Cross senior Thomas Gale (Goaltender).
Hoskin’s Niagara Purple Eagles play at the Dwyer Arena in Lewiston, New York.
The Purple Eagles will return to the ice on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. when they host rival Canisius University from Buffalo. Both teams feature former OJHL star players.
