January 7, 2025, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Amir Valiullin of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens has been named its Goaltender of the Month for December.
Valiullin was 7-1-0-0 during December, posting a 1.33 goals-against average with a league-leading 0.959 save percentage. He posted back-to-back shutouts, 4-0 in Trenton on Dec. 20 and 2-0 at home over the Toronto Patriots two nights later.
The 19-year-old from Ufa, Russia has gone 9-2-0-1 for the Jr. Canadiens since being obtained in a trade with the OJHL’s North York Rangers on Nov. 24. He appeared in 40 games for the Rangers last season after playing in North York as an affiliate from the Markham Majors U18 team in 2022-23.
Valiullin and the Jr. Canadiens visit Haliburton County Saturday and host the Lindsay Muskies Sunday.
Tyler Hodges of the Haliburton County Huskies was runner-up to Valiullin as the Goaltender-of-the-Month. The NCAA Division I Dartmouth College commit went 6-2-0-0 while posting a 1.52 GAA and a 0.946 save percentage during December after rejoining the Huskies from Victoria of the BCHL.
