Goaltender Anthony Alessi of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Buffalo Jr. Sabres has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division III Bowdoin College Polar Bears in Brunswick, Maine.
Alessi is 14-11-2-5 this season with a 2.63 goals-against average, 0.924 save percentage and four shutouts.
Now 18, Alessi was named to the OJHL’s First Team All-Prospect squad for 2024-25.
“It is an honor being able to continue my academic and athletic career at Bowdoin College,” Alessi told the OJHL. “Having the opportunity to grow up in Buffalo and play in the Jr. Sabres organization since 9U has meant so much to me. I’m especially thankful for my parents and all my coaches throughout the years who helped me grow both on and off the ice and made Buffalo such a special place to play.”
Jr. Sabres Head Coach and General Manager Sean Wallace likes Alessi’s choice of colleges.
“I was very excited to hear the news this week of Anthony’s commitment to Bowdoin College,” Wallace told the OJHL. “I think it’s the perfect fit for Anthony between hockey and academics. Anthony has been a staple in the organization for many years and a leader for our team for two seasons, which makes the news extra special.”
Congratulations to Anthony and best of luck in the NCAA!
