Hughes joined the Menace in 2019 from the Burlington Cougars.

He scored 31 goals and had 45 assists in 53 games  to lead the Menace in points during his final season of junior.

“Five years go by extremely fast. I am grateful that I spent these last five years in the OJHL and especially the last four with Milton,” Hughes said. “I can confidently say it has helped my development a lot and I would recommend it to anyone considering playing hockey at a junior level.

“My time with Milton has truly been the most fun four years of my life and especially in my hockey career. Here in Milton, you get treated with tons of respect and hospitality. I can’t name a thing I missed out on playing here. Playing here has helped me get ready for the next level. From Day 1, my coach, Dan Delmonte, and owner, Jason Tryfon, have done the most for me and my future. They truly care about developing players and helping them get to the next level.”

Utica sold him on several fronts.

“Making my decision on where to play college hockey was fairly simple,” Hughes told the OJHL. “I chose a school with top-tier facilities, an amazing hockey program, getting a great education and setting me up for the next chapter in my life after college. Coaches are great people and have already made a strong connection with them from the start.”

Del Monte has heavy praise for Hughes.

“Aidan has been a model citizen and an integral part of what it means to be a Menace,” he said. “Aidan has been in Milton since Day 1 of our franchise and it will be a sad thing to go to the rink and not see him there. I am so proud of him and his accomplishments with us and I know the best is yet to come for him.

“Congratulations Aidan on our four-year journey together,” Tryfon added. “Your dedication, talent, and unwavering commitment to the sport have been exceptional. From your remarkable skills on the ice to your inspiring leadership and sportsmanship, you have left an undeniable mark on our franchise and the Milton hockey community. As you embark on this new chapter, I am excited to witness the continued growth and success that lies ahead for you.”

Congratulations to Aidan and best of luck in the NCAA!
