OJHL Goalie Skill Development Camp

EVENT DETAILS

The OJHL is offering 38 goalies the opportunity to experience an OJHL Junior A skill and development camp at the Campus Ice Centre on April 20th and 21st, 2026 in Oshawa ON.  The event is open to athletes born in the years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

The event will be split in to 2 two sessions with each session being comprised of 19 goalies (4 groups of 4 plus 1 group of 3). The rink will be divided in to 5 stations (end zones and side walls)

OJHL Goalie coaches will be used for all skill instruction, evaluation as well as testing and seminars.

A two day event, each group will have (3) three hours of on ice skill development and evaluation and (2) two hours of off ice programming.  Off ice programs will consist of an hour of off ice testing and an hour goalie coach seminar.

Goalie will receive jersey and a player gift, goalie evaluation form (will be sent after the event) and a video package from a drill each day.  The evaluators will select the top 24 goalies who will then be offered a spot to participate in the 2026 OJHL Combine April 23-26, 2026.

*This event is not open to Canadian players registered with a team outside of the Ontario Hockey Federation or junior aged players that are currently carded with a team within the Hockey Canada structure.

*American born players must provide proof of insurance before they will be allowed to participate in the combine! American player participation is subject to Canadian, Ontario and Regional Health Unit Policies.

The OJHL Goalie Skill Development Camp is a unique Junior A experience for goalies aspiring to develop to the next level.  Goalies will have an opportunity to learn, improve and may be selected to play in the 2026 OJHL Combine. (additional fee applies)

Cost to attend:

$395 plus HST

Players receive 3 hours ice time, off ice testing, seminar,  jersey, player gift, evaluation report and the chance to play in front of all OJHL Teams and the main OJHL Combine April 23-26, 2026 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville ON.  Water, isotonic beverages, energy food, tape and shampoo will be provided.  Player and parents will have access to OJHL Images for free images after the event.

EVENT PURPOSE AND BENEFITS

PURPOSE:

1) Deliver Development-Focused Growth Opportunity
Offer meaningful, individualized on ice training and off ice instruction while offering feedback - both on-ice and off-ice to help goaltenders understand the areas they must improve to succeed at the Junior A hockey level and beyond.

2) Identify Goaltending Areas of Improvement
Through on ice and off ice skill development and training, goalies will be provided technical, physical and competitive assessments to allow them to work on over the summer and their hockey future.

3) Provide a Pathway to the OJHL Combine
Serve as a qualifying and scouting event for goaltenders to earn selection into the OJHL Combine, ensuring that goalies are properly represented and evaluated in the broader league identification process.

EVENT SCHEDULE

The OJHL Goalie Skill Development Camp will focus on the following:

Day 1 On-Ice Session:

  • Technical Sessions (focused on skating, controlled drills shots, rebound control)
  • 15 minutes/ station (ample enough time for reps/ goalie, evaluation, and talk with goalies at station.

Day 1 Off-Ice Testing:

  • Testing will consist of  height, weight, reaction/vision testing, vertical jump, high jump, 5-10-5 Agility Test, Hand-Eye Coordination Tests, Mobility/ Stability Screening)
  • Benefit to the Athlete to have this data and show where they are good and need to improve before camps/ off-season.

Day 2 On-Ice Session:

  • Movement & Game Situations (focused on post play situations, battle drills, screens)
  • 15 minutes/ station (ample enough time for reps/ goalie, evaluation, and talk with goalies at station.

Day 2 Off-Ice Seminar:

  • This seminar will have a special guest goalie coach talking about goaltending, breaking down some video and the path to Junior A, the OHL and NCAA.
  • Players parents will be invited for this informative talk that will provide an opportunity for those in attendance to ask questions.

LOCATION

The Campus Ice Centre is home to the Ridgebacks' hockey programs. as well as the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks of the OUA.

An on-campus hockey rink and recreation facility, the Campus Ice Centre is the perfect size for OUA hockey, Campus Recreation intramurals and the community.

This facility features two ice pads, with the main rink housing seating for 500 fans. There is also a fully-licensed restaurant upstairs as well as meeting room in between the two rinks perfect for hosting seminars.
