STOUFFVILLE GOALIE, PAIR OF LEAMINGTON FLYERS NAMED OJHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK

Hayden Sabourin of the Stouffville Spirit is the First Star of the Week in the Ontario Junior Hockey League for the week of Nov. 24-30, the OJHL announced today.

With Sabourin in net, the East Conference-leading Spirit recorded a pair of road wins in less than 24 hours last weekend. The Guelph native shut out the Pickering Panthers 5-0 Friday night and beat the second-place Newmarket Hurricanes 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Sabourin has gone 18-4-0-0 while leading all OJHL goaltenders in games played (22) and shutouts (4) this season.

Second Star Ethan Walker recorded six points (two goals/four assists) in three victories for his Leamington Flyers last week. Both goals came in the Flyers’ 5-1 win over the Lindsay Muskies, Walker’s former team, in Leamington Thursday.

The Hamilton resident has 31 points in 24 games this season.

Flyers’ goaltender Tre Altiman earned Third Star after winning both of his games, 8-1 in Caledon Sunday and 2-0 – while making 36 saves – in Burlington Friday. He recorded a 0.986 save percentage during the week.

Altiman sports a 2.19 goals-against average, a save percentage of 0.929 and three shutouts this season.

Sabourin, Walker and Altiman were selected to play in the OJHL’s 20-Year-Old Game at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa Monday, the league announced yesterday.

The 3 Stars of the Week are selected using statistics powered by SportsLogIQ and stats from the OJHL from the past week.
