Luke Howard of the Toronto Patriots is the First Star of the Week in the Ontario Junior Hockey League for the week of Jan. 26 to Feb. 1, the OJHL announced today.
The 6-foot-3 defenceman from Woodbridge had eight points (2 goals/6 assists) in two games for the Patriots, the top-ranked team in the 24-team OJHL.
Six of Howard’s points came in a 9-1 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks in Toronto Saturday.
Second Star Crosby Dacosta was in net for a pair of wins by the Markham Royals, 2-1 over the Lindsay Muskies on Wednesday and 5-1 over the Haliburton County Huskies in Minden on Saturday. The Brantford Bulldogs OHL draft pick made 35 saves in each victory.
Lindsay netminder George Cote was named Third Star. He made 27 saves in the loss at Markham before recording wins of 4-3 over Caledon in Lindsay on Friday and 6-3 in Buffalo on Saturday. The New Jersey native made 60 saves between the two wins.
