Tzaferis joined the Dukes at the beginning of the 2023-24 season from the Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The 20-year-old defenceman from Montreal was named captain part way through the season.

He helped lead a young Wellington team to a third-place finish in the OJHL’s East Conference.

In 55 games, Tzaferis put up 40 points (13 goals/27 assists), finishing in the top 12 among defencemen in OJHL scoring.

“The Dukes organization and the town of Wellington will always have a special place in my heart,” he said on the Dukes’ website. “I’m forever grateful for my teammates, coaching staff and the best fans in OJHL. That being said, I’m proud to announce my commitment to Middlebury College. It’s an honour to be able to pursue my academics and hockey at such a prestigious institution.

“I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches, billets and everyone else that’s supported me along the way!”

Dukes Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Kent Lewis praised Tzaferis.

“Middlebury has landed an exceptional player and person,” he said. “Dimitri was a tremendous asset to our club and a pleasure to coach. He will have a great run both on the ice and in the classroom and beyond.”

Congratulations to Dimitri and best of luck in the NCAA!
