The defenceman played the past two seasons for his hometown Jr. Canadiens, helping the team to back-to-back OJHL regular season championships.
The 20-year-old assistant captain scored eight goals and assisted on 24 more last season.
“I’m very excited to get started and it is an honour to be part of such a great program,” Eftimovski said of his commitment. “JRC has really helped me over the past two years in developing me into the player I am today. Credit to the coaching staff and unreal teammates.
“With the success we had over the two years it has put me in a great position to get the opportunity to commit to such a great school.”
Vince Bellissimo, his coach with JRC, is proud of the blueliner.
“Michael was an anchor for us with the Toronto Jr. A Canadiens on our backend and played big minutes in all situations for two full seasons with us,” said the OJHL’s coach of the year. “He is a well-rounded player that contributes in every facet of the game.
“His character, leadership and dedication will be a big addition to the Wisconsin-Stevens Point program along with his on-ice contribution. We are very excited for him with this next step in his hockey and education.”
Former OJHLers on the Pointers’ 2022-23 roster included Nicholas Aromatario and Matthew Falls from the Cobourg Cougars and Andrew Poulias (Pickering).
Congratulations to Michael and best of luck in the NCAA!
The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, has had more than 90 NCAA, U SPORTS, CHL and professional commitments in 2021-22 – including more than 25 NCAA Division I scholarships.
