The Ontario Junior Hockey League Nutrafarms Championship Series is guaranteed to go a minimum of six games.

The Trenton Golden Hawks saw to that with a 3-1 win over the Collingwood Blues in Game 4 in Trenton Wednesday night.

The best-of-seven series is tied at 2-2.

“I thought the guys played well,” Trenton Head Coach Derek Smith told the OJHL. “The crowd once again was great. We did what we had to do at home, and now it’s a best two-out-of-three.”

The Golden Hawks held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0 on goals by Cooper Matthews and Adam O’Marra in front of 1,270 fans at Duncan Memorial Gardens tonight.

Jack Rimmer of the Blues made things interesting with his goal at 17:50 of the third period with goaltender Noah Pak pulled for the sixth Collingwood attacker.

But Trenton’s Ryan Cutler iced the win with a goal into the empty net  at 19:04.

Game 5 will be played in Collingwood Friday. The sixth game goes Monday in Trenton.

The winner of the series gets the Buckland Cup and a berth in the Centennial Cup national championships in Oakville May 9-19.

The OJHL champions’ first game at the Centennial Cup will be played May 9 against the champions of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
