TWO ST. MICHAEL’S BUZZERS, PAIR OF LEAMINGTON FLYERS MAKE FINAL RANKINGS FOR NHL DRAFT

Four of the six Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) players on National Hockey League Central Scouting’s final rankings for the 2024 NHL Draft released Tuesday are from the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Topping the CJHL list is St. Michael’s Buzzers (OJHL) centre Jonathan Morello, who was slotted in the fourth round, 98th overall, among North American skaters.

Morello was named the OJHL’s Hudl InStat Top Prospect last week. He is committed to NCAA Division I Clarkson.

Also ranked in the fourth round was Morello’s St. Michael’s/OJHL teammate, defenceman David Green at 122nd overall. Green was named Defenceman of the Year in the OJHL. He’s committed to NCAA Division I Merrimack.

Green, Morello and the other winners of annual awards presented by the OJHL will be honoured during a pregame ceremony ahead of Game 1 of the league’s Nutrafarms Championship Series in Collingwood Friday night.

A sixth-round nod went to blueliner Jason Davenport (Leamington Flyers/OJHL) who came in at 171st. He’s committed to NCAA Division I Miami (Ohio).

Leamington Flyers (OJHL) netminder Sebastian Gatto is ranked 16th among North American goaltenders. Gatto was selected by the London Knights in last weekend’s Ontario Hockey League draft.

NHL Central Scouting held its final meetings with a five-day, in-person session in Toronto earlier this month following a two-day video conference to discuss and finalize the regional lists.
