CHARGERS’ HINDE NAMED OJHL ROOKIE-OF-THE-YEAR

April 15, 2026, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Tyler Hinde of the Mississauga Chargers has been voted the league’s Rookie of the Year for the 2025-26 season.

Hinde, 16, produced 76 points on 27 goals and 49 assists in 47 regular-season games for the Chargers, placing him in the top 10 point getters in the league, and the leading scorer of all 2009 players.

“On behalf of the entire Mississauga Chargers organization, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Tyler Hinde on this remarkable achievement,” Alex Bezerra, Head Coach and General Manager of the Mississauga Chargers, told the OJHL. “This recognition is a testament to Tyler’s incredible talent and potential; his passion and enthusiasm for the game is contagious, making him a vital part of our team; it was a pleasure to work with him every day.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to have Tyler and his family within our organization, and we are excited to see how he continues to develop in the Ontario Hockey League.”

The 6-foot-3 forward from Vaughan, Ont., made an immediate impact in his first OJHL season. Hinde was named the league’s West Conference Player-of-the-Month for December after recording 16 points in nine games, highlighted by three-point outings against Burlington and King and a four-assist performance in a win over Oakville.

A third-round selection of the Oshawa Generals in the 2025 Ontario Hockey League Draft, Hinde signed with Oshawa later in the season. Before joining the Chargers, he played for the Toronto Red Wings U16 team.

Hinde also earned selection to the 2026 OJHL All-Star Celebration and was named to the OJHL’s 2025-26 Prospect Team, further underlining the strong impression he made across the league in his rookie year.

“It’s an honour to be named Rookie of the Year in the OJHL,” Hinde told the OJHL. “Thank you to my Mississauga Chargers Coaches and Teammates for their support this season and for pushing me to be the best I could be every day.”

Hinde will be recognized alongside the OJHL’s other 2025-26 award winners during the league’s year-end awards presentations.

The OJHL is announcing its 2025-26 award winners throughout the first three rounds of the playoffs.
