The East Conference of the Ontario Junior Hockey League left Collingwood tonight with bragging rights from the OJHL’s All-Star Celebration.
After taking the afternoon Hudl-InStat OJHL Prospects Game 8-7, the East held on for a 7-5 win in the All-Star Game Saturday night to sweep the celebration.
Attendance at Eddie Bush Arena in downtown Collingwood was 775.
Trevor Hoskin (Cobourg Cougars) had a two-goal, two-assist game and was named East player of the game.
Committed to NCAA Division I Canisius, Hoskin was a member of Team Canada East, which won silver at the World Jr. A Challenge in Nova Scotia last month.
“It was great to see guys from around the league and make new friends,” he told the OJHL. “Happy to be a part of it. There wasn’t a lot of hitting but the pace of play was very high.”
Cobourg linemate and Team Canada East teammate Andy Reist also scored twice.
Singles came from Ray Hou (Markham Royals), Dimitri-Alexander Tzaferis (Wellington Dukes) and Ben Lalkin (Markham).
Luke Johnston (Oakville Blades), who had a goal and two assists, was the West player of the game.
Johnston said Oakville teammate Sean Clarke and his two goals were more deserving of game honours.
He said the Blades and their trade deadline acquisitions will now concentrate on concluding the regular season and doing well in the OJHL playoffs and Centennial Cup they are hosting this spring.
Cayden Faust (Leamington Flyers) and Cameron Doran (Buffalo Jr. Sabres) scored the other West goals.
The game was part of the two-day 2024 OJHL All-Star Celebration, which also included the prospects and alumni games and a skills competition. It was the second straight year the celebration was staged in Collingwood.
