COLLINGWOOD COMMITTEE CRUCIAL TO SUCCESS OF OJHL ALL-STAR CELEBRATION

December 15, 2023, Mississauga, ON – The Ontario Junior Hockey League’s 2023-24 OJHL All-Star Celebration presented by Dairy Farmers of Ontario could not take place without the support and hard work of local organizers.

The weekend event is scheduled for January 12 and 13, 2024 in scenic Collingwood, Ont.

A steering committee in Collingwood has been working for months with the OJHL to strategize, organize and execute the 2024 OJHL All-Star Celebration. Members include Blues owner Dave Steele and team executives Terry Geddes and Rob Holroyd. Geddes is the former mayor of Collingwood.

The All-Star celebration is supported by volunteers from the:

  • Collingwood Blues Jr. A team
  • Georgian Bay Lighting girls hockey
  • Collingwood Minor Hockey Association
  • Town of Collingwood and the community at large.

“The OJHL All-Star Celebration returns to Collingwood for a second straight year. following the overwhelming support from the community last year,” said Rob Holroyd of the Blues executive. “The success on the ice of the skills competition, alumni game, prospects game and the all-star game showed that the fans love the hockey.  This year, moving the alumni game to the Saturday morning means there will be a full day of exciting hockey.”

All-Star weekend begins with the OJHL Skills Competition on Friday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m.  Saturday’s schedule will kick off with the OJHL Alumni Game at 10:30 a.m, followed by the Hudl-Instat OJHL Prospects Game at 1 p.m, which will feature the league’s top players born in 2006 and 2007. The main attraction, the OJHL All-Star Game, will start at 5 p.m. and feature the top players from the 24-team league as selected by the league’s All Star selection process.

All net proceeds from the weekend events will go to the OJHL Foundation, which focuses on delivering the First Assist Program to aid players with mental health and life skills training.

More information on the event, including community events, rosters and coaches for the three games and the names of players taking part in the skills competition, will be released in the coming weeks.
