Jack Silverman of the defending Ontario Junior Hockey League champion Collingwood Blues (photo credit – Jamie Green | OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division 3 Middlebury College Panthers in Middlebury, Vermont beginning with the 2024-25 season.
The 19-year-old from Toronto signed in Collingwood in 2022 from Ridley College in St. Catharines.
Silverman has 18 goals and 17 assists in 42 games this season. Seven of those goals were game winners.
“I’m very thankful to have spent my Jr. hockey career playing for the best organization in Jr. A hockey,” Silverman told the OJHL. “This experience stems from the dedication of David Steele and Mike Tarantino. Living in such a great town coupled with playing on a back- to-back league-leading team have made for some of the best years of my life. Furthermore, I have never had a coach as caring and selfless with his time as Coach Campoli. The care he has for us reciprocates team wide and is the basis of our club’s culture. I’m excited for the next chapter but will never forget my teammates, billets, coaches, management, and fans in Collingwood.”
“Jack has been a big part of the Collingwood community since joining the Blues,” said Collingwood General Manager Mike Tarantino. “Apart from his on-ice success, Jack has been a leader in community involvement working with local kids and organizations to make a difference. The Blues are extremely proud of Jack for this accomplishment and wish him all the best at Middlebury next year.”
“From Day 1 of Jack arriving in Collingwood we knew he was going to make a difference on and off the ice,” said Collingwood Head Coach Andrew Campoli. “Jack has been an outstanding teammate, is always willing to help with community events and never stops wanting to get better. He’s a fierce competitor and played a very important role for us on our journey to capture the Buckland Cup last season. It’s been a pleasure to watch Jack grow and develop, not only as a hockey player, but as a person. We know he’s destined for some amazing things in life and we couldn’t be happier for his commitment to Middlebury College.”
Congratulations to Jack and best of luck in the OJHL and NCAA!
