Tyler Fukakusa was all of ‘5-foot-2 and 115 pounds soaking wet’ in his U16 season.
Much-decorated Ontario Junior Hockey League alumnus Tyler Fukakusa is host Alex Bastyovanszky’s special guest on this week’s edition of The OJ All Access Podcast.
The MVP and scoring champ of the OJHL and Player of the Year in the Ontario Hockey Association in 2022-23, Tyler had 238 points in a pair of regular and playoff seasons in the OJ.

On this week’s podcast, the 2025 Hobey Baker Award nominee talks about:
- Being “a late bloomer – 5-foot-2 and 115 pounds soaking wet” in his U16 season.
- Being bypassed in both the U18 and U16 Ontario Hockey League drafts: “Everyone’s route is different.”
- The former OJHLers who influenced him to sign in the OJ, and specifically with the Jr. Canadiens.
- The tips for success he acquired in the OJ.
- “The OJHL gave me a lot of opportunity to develop as a player and as a person, especially for me while living at home. It was great to have my parents’ support the whole time.”
