Owen Sclisizzi of the  Ontario Junior Hockey League champion Collingwood Blues has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Norwich University Cadets in Northfield, Vermont beginning with the 2023-24 season.

Sclisizzi, who will turn 21 on Canada Day, was obtained by the Blues from the Mississauga Chargers of the OJHL a year ago.

In Collingwood this season, the Milton resident scored 12 goals and added 20 assists in 52 games. He added eight more points during the Blues playoff run.

“We are extremely excited for Owen and his family on his commitment to continue his academics and hockey career at Norwich,” said Jordan Selinger, Collingwood’s Director of Hockey Operations

“Since acquiring him from the Chargers, Owen was a strong veteran presence who played the right way and was a solid example for our younger players. He was integral in establishing the championship culture in Collingwood. We wish him nothing but the best going forward and know he will make a similar impact on the Norwich program that he did in Collingwood.”

“My time in Collingwood was awesome,” Sclisizzi told the OJHL. “I wish I had another year to play with the best teammates every night for the most supportive fans in the OJHL.

“The organization is run professionally including the owner, manager, the coaching and the training staff. I was traded to Collingwood Blues during summer of 2022 and from Day 1 was treated like a king. The Blues not only do everything for their players, but remain actively involved in the great Town of Collingwood. Thank you, Collingwood Blues, for the best year of my life.”

OJHL graduates on Norwich’s roster this past season included Braedyn Aubin (Markham), Andrew Albano (Stouffville, Georgetown, Markham), Callum Jones (Oakville), Devon Thibodeau (Cobourg), Holden Doggett (Stouffville, Oakville) and Nicholas Cordeiro (North York, Mississauga, Brantford, Jr. Canadiens).

Congratulations to Owen and best of luck in the NCAA!

The OJHL had more than 75 commitments in 2022-23 including more than 36 NCAA Division I scholarships.
