QUOTES
Joey Banas (Buffalo Jr. Sabres), who signed with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs, which is owned and operated by the Hyman family, this month: “I am very excited about the opportunity to compete in the Zach Hyman Series. It is a great opportunity to play with the best ‘08 and ‘09 players in the league. I look forward to meeting some new guys and creating some chemistry to help the team be successful. Team White’s roster looks very strong from top to bottom. This team is anchored by some solid goaltending. It should be a very competitive game.”
Andrew Willis (King Rebellion), who has split his season between the OHL and OJHL: “I feel very fortunate to have been selected to play in the Zach Hyman series with just having arrived in the league. Any time you have the opportunity to be seen by individuals representing other teams, schools, etc. it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills and improve your game by playing against top players. I am very much looking forward to playing in the series.
Players to watch from Andrew’s perspective:
“I am lucky to have Lachlan Larmand as a teammate on the King Rebellion. He is an excellent player and is one to watch in the offensive zone. He has a great shot and also has great hockey IQ. David Greene was also at Erie Camp this past summer. He possesses good speed and also has great vision.”
“Looking at Team White’s roster I think their goaltending will be a key for them. (Hagan) Bach (Collingwood Blues) and (Noah) Mavin (King Rebellion) have played very well when called upon. Up front, we will have to pay attention to Toronto’s Colton Woods and Oakville’s Jonny Brooks. Both players have been putting up impressive numbers.”
Mark Jooris (Burlington Cougars) is Head Coach of Team Black: “I believe at an event like this you will see a ton of energy and a highly competitive game. A lot of young talent will be on the ice. Looking at Team White’s roster I think their goaltending will be a key for them. (Hagan) Bach (Collingwood Blues) and (Noah) Mavin (King Rebellion) have played very well when called upon. Up front, we will have to pay attention to Toronto’s Colton Woods and Oakville’s Johnny Brooks. Both players have been putting up impressive numbers.
“From our team, Joey Banas has had an exceptional start. A very offensively gifted talent. Creates something whenever he gets the puck Because I coach Ben Trebicky, I have a great sample of what he can do. He’s really embraced being committed to playing a 200-foot game. He has a very high hockey IQ and an extremely high compete level.”
Alex Bezerra (Mississauga Chargers) is Team White’s Head Coach: “It’s a pleasure to be a part of this prospects series. It will be a great opportunity to observe how these young athletes handle pressure. The spotlight is on them; their performance will give us insight into their potential at the next level. These games are a fantastic opportunity for scouts and coaches to see these prospects showcasing their skills against some of the best talent in the OJHL.”
“As we prepare for this game, I’m really excited to see our goalie prospects in action (Hagan Bach and Noah Mavin). These goaltenders are not just skilled, but they are competitors who make big-time saves when their teams need them. These goalies both have unique styles, but they are both technically sound and keep their composure in high-pressure situations.”
“When watching Team Black, keep an eye on forward Lachlan Larmand. Larmand is a fourth-round pick of the Brampton Steelheads and has tallied 22 points already this season. His speed and vision on the ice are impressive, and he has emerged as a game-changer for King this season. On defense, Landon Pickersgill is a player to watch. Landon is a seventh-round pick of the Flint Firebirds and has recently committed to Lake Superior State. He has shown great offensive vision, poise and decision-making this season with Leamington. His ability to read the game offensively is impressive.”

Players to watch in Game 3 include:
- Joey Banas of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, who leads all rookies in the OJHL this season in points (38). The 17-year-old from Clarence Center, NY went undrafted by Ontario Hockey League teams before signing with Brantford.
- Buffalo goalie Owen Scott, who has a commitment to NCAA Division I Ohio State University.
- Second-year Burlington Cougars’ forward Will Johnson, a DI Lake Superior State University commitment.
- Andrew Willis of the King Rebellion, who has played eight games with the Erie Otters of the OHL already this season. He was an eighth-round pick by Erie in the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
