Dillon Stiles of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Collingwood Blues has confirmed his commitment to join the University of Guelph Gryphons beginning this fall.

Stiles, who turned 21 Jan. 11, joined the defending Centennial Cup champion Blues in September  from the Trenton Golden Hawks, the team they defeated in the 2024 OJHL Championship Series.

The huge – 6-foot-8, 245 pounds – defenceman from Toronto has 17 points in 39 games this season,

“I’m honoured and excited to announce that I will be playing at Guelph next season,” Stiles said. “I’d like to thank all my past coaches and teammates who helped me get to this point, as well as my family for always supporting me.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time in Collingwood.  I’ve met many great people and seen a lot of progression in my game this season. I’m looking forward to making a push for the national championship to finish my junior career before heading to Guelph next season.”

Collingwood’s hockey staff likes Stiles’ game.

“Since arriving in Collingwood, Dillon has continued to elevate his game on a daily basis,” said Head Coach Andrew Campoli. “His ability to push the play north and be an offensive threat is a bonus to his already strong defensive game. He brings a lot of leadership, maturity and experience to our locker room and he has been a fan favourite on and off the ice.

“We are excited for Dillon and his family on his commitment to the University of Guelph  and look forward to following his hockey journey.”

“Dillon has made an immediate impact on and off the ice since arriving in Collingwood,” said General Manager Mike Tarantino.   “Dillon is an elite defenceman who has an exceptional hockey IQ, is a great leader,  and teammate. We are excited to announce that Dillon will continue his development at Guelph, joining ‘23-24 Blues Captain Dylan Hudon.”
