Son Lincoln Edwards of the Cobourg Cougars is adding to his trophy collection week by week.
Two games into the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Zach Hyman Prospect Series and 16-year-old Lincoln already has a pair of Player of the Game trophies.
The North Bay Battalion Ontario Hockey League draft pick scored three times to lead Team Red East to a 9-3 win over Team Grey East in Game 1 of the Prospect Series in Trenton last Tuesday.
He scored two more times and added an assist as Team Red defeated Team Yellow 7-6 in another East Conference tilt at the Cobourg Community Centre, the home of his Cougars, this afternoon,
Edwards was presented the Red Player of the Game award by Cougar legend Stefano Durante, the OJHL’s Director of Hockey Operations and Recruitment.


The new series features the top 2008- and 2009-born players from across the 24-team league.
Scouts from across the hockey world attended.
Alex Semenstov of the Newmarket Hurricanes was Player of the Game for Team Yellow. The first-round pick of the Barrie Colts in this year’s Ontario Hockey League draft had a goal and an assist.
Team Yellow held a 6-4 lead during the third period before the Red surge responded with three straight goals.
Other Red scorers were:
- Jack Foley (Lindsay Muskies), a Cobourg resident and another North Bay Battalion draft pick
- Liam Campbell (Wellington Dukes), who has seen action with Saginaw of the OHL the past two seasons.
- Elijah Chavez (Stouffville Spirit). The Peterborough Petes OHL pick had the game-winner.
- Kaden Koutroulides (Lindsay Muskies). Undrafted, he also scored and assisted in Game 1.
- Connor Hollebek (Caledon Admirals/Haliburton County Huskies), an Ottawa 67’s prospect.
Royden Smith (Wellington) earned the win. He shared the Red net with Thomas Lima (Lindsay).
Matthew Humphries (Aurora Tigers) and Max Grovestine (Newmarket) split netminding duties for the Yellow squad.
Other Yellow scorers were:
- Luis Sturgeon (Haliburton County), who has played one game with the Petes this season.
- Cruz Doner (Markham Royals), a Brantford Bulldogs pick.
- Lewis Hergaarden (Haliburton County), an Oshawa Generals pick.
- Julius Da Silva (Haliburton County), an Owen Sound Attack prospect.
- Nicholas Muzzatti (Newmarket), a Niagara IceDogs selection.
The series resumes Nov. 17 with the first West Conference game, Black vs White, in Milton.

The Format
The Prospects Series features six teams competing in a round-robin format followed by a championship game. Selected players are playing on three teams representing OJHL East and three teams representing OJHL West. Following the round robin, the top two teams will advance to the championship game at the TD Civic Centre, hosted by the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs.

The Ontario Junior Hockey League is the largest Junior ‘A’ league operating under the auspices of the Canadian Junior Hockey League with 24 member clubs. A proud member of the CJHL and Ontario Hockey Association, the OJHL was originally named the Ontario Provincial Junior ‘A’ Hockey League and it was formed out of the Central Junior ‘B’ Hockey League in 1993-94. With a long and storied history of developing players for the next level, including U SPORTS, the NCAA, CHL, minor pro ranks and the NHL, the OJHL had more than 135 commitments in 2024-25, including 54 to NCAA Division 1 and 29 to the Ontario Hockey League. In addition, the OJHL had 39 OHL Affiliate Players who played 152 OHL games. Thirty OJHL alumni are on NHL rosters this fall.
