March 6, 2025, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Ryland Cunningham of the Lindsay Muskies has been named its East Conference Player-of-the-Month for February after he tallied 18 points during 12 games. His 10 goals were tops across the 24-team OJHL. Cunningham had two-goal games against Wellington, Markham and North York during the month.
Cunningham, 16, was acquired by Lindsay from the OJHL’s Leamington Flyers on Dec. 20. He had 24 points (12 goals/12 assists) in 28 OJHL games this season. The Cobourg resident also played four games with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He was a second-round pick of the Firebirds in the 2024 OHL U16 draft from the Peterborough Petes AAA organization.
Two other Muskies also had big Januarys: Owen Fitzgerald, 19 points (7 goals/12 assists), and Owen Dawson, 17 points (3 goals/14 assists).
Nathan Poole of the Haliburton County Huskies was runner-up to Cunningham as the East Conference Player-of-the-Month. The 20-year-old from Oshawa had 17 points ( 3 goals/14 assists) in eight games. Poole finished tied for fourth in the OJHL scoring race this season with 81 points (24/57) in 49 games.
Poole’s Huskies open their first-round playoff series with the Cobourg Cougars at home Sunday.
