OJHL GOVERNORS’ SHOWCASE DAY ONE RECAP

Eight games open the Governors’ Showcase at the Gale Centre, with King’s 11-2 win and Niagara Falls’ overtime victory among the Day One highlights.

 

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – October 6, 2026 – The Ontario Junior Hockey League opened its 2026 Governors’ Showcase with eight games at the Gale Centre on Monday. Jared McNeil led the day with a hat trick and five points for King, host Niagara Falls won in overtime, and Pickering held off Georgetown to close the opening day.

 

All 24 OJHL clubs are taking part in the three-day Showcase from October 5-7. Each team plays twice, and all 24 games count toward the regular-season standings.

 

Oakville Blades 8, North York Rangers 3

Eight different Blades scored as Oakville led 5-1 through two periods. Cam Godard and Gabe Carvalho each recorded one goal and two assists, while Ethan Lobe collected three assists. Eidan Macartney scored the winning goal. Marcus Cruz-D’Annunzio stopped 30 of 33 shots as Oakville finished with a 48-33 shot advantage.

 

Mississauga Chargers 4, Aurora Tigers 1

Mississauga scored four unanswered goals in the third period to erase a 1-0 deficit. Milo (Boyu) Tian scored twice and added an assist, while Owen Barfoot and Luca Morano each had one goal and one assist. Zachary Pereira collected two assists, and Owen Leonard stopped 34 of 35 shots.

 

Milton Menace 4, Stouffville Spirit 1

Austin McKillop made 29 saves on 30 shots as Milton built a three-goal lead. Don William Bristol, Chris Soares, Cameron Lang and Nathan Catalano scored for the Menace. Soares and Lang each added an assist, while Dallys Hibbert recorded two assists. Rocco Williams scored for Stouffville.

 

King Rebellion 11, Toronto Warriors 2

Jared McNeil scored three goals and added two assists as King scored seven times in the second period. Adam Smeeton and Julius da Silva each had two goals and an assist. Lucas Preiano recorded one goal and two assists, while Andrei Chumakov and Marshall McCharles each had three assists. King outshot Toronto 51-11.

 

Collingwood Blues 6, Trenton Golden Hawks 1

Six different Blues scored, led by Wyatt Jinman’s one goal and two assists. John Aldys scored the winner late in the first period. Atom Thususka and Talan Palmer each had one goal and one assist, while Ryan Gosse and Ethan Neller each recorded two assists. Owen Edwards stopped 23 of 24 shots.

 

Caledon Admirals 3, St. Michael’s Buzzers 2

Nolan Pipe scored twice on the power play, including the winner at 14:01 of the third period, as Caledon rallied from a 2-1 deficit. Michael Lacroce also scored, Jonah Gareau recorded two assists, and Justin Young stopped 30 of 32 shots. Caiden Clair and Joseph Ferraro scored for St. Michael’s.

 

Niagara Falls Canucks 3, Newmarket Hurricanes 2 OT

Jaden Flora scored the power-play winner at 2:57 of overtime, assisted by Justin Flora and David Greene. CJ Irwin tied the game early in the third period, and Brodie Wood also scored for Niagara Falls. Thomas Puhalla stopped 38 of 40 shots. Nicholas Muzzatti and Brody Tulk scored for Newmarket.

 

Pickering Panthers 5, Georgetown Raiders 4

Tyler Bruce scored twice as Pickering built a 5-2 lead and held off Georgetown’s third-period comeback. Ethan Toms, Ethan Dean and Evan Elliott also scored. Denimes Mosler-Plata had three assists for Georgetown, whose third-period goals came from Sebastian Cabral and Vince Albanese. Luca Difelice made 41 saves on 46 shots for the Raiders.

 

Top Performers of the Day

Jared McNeil led all Day One scorers with 3 goals, 2 assists and 5 points for King. Adam Smeeton and Julius da Silva each recorded 2 goals, 1 assist and 3 points, while Lucas Preiano had 1 goal, 2 assists and 3 points. Andrei Chumakov and Marshall McCharles each finished with 0 goals, 3 assists and 3 points.

 

Milo (Boyu) Tian of Mississauga recorded 2 goals, 1 assist and 3 points. Oakville’s Cam Godard and Gabe Carvalho and Collingwood’s Wyatt Jinman each had 1 goal, 2 assists and 3 points. Ethan Lobe of Oakville and Denimes Mosler-Plata of Georgetown each recorded 0 goals, 3 assists and 3 points.

 

Tyler Bruce of Pickering and Nolan Pipe of Caledon each finished with 2 goals, 0 assists and 2 points. Both of Pipe’s goals came on the power play, including the game winner.

 

Thomas Puhalla of Niagara Falls stopped 38 of 40 shots, Owen Leonard of Mississauga stopped 34 of 35, and Austin McKillop of Milton stopped 29 of 30. Luca Difelice of Georgetown led the day with 41 saves on 46 shots. None of the four recorded a shutout.

All times are Eastern: Toronto Warriors vs. Mississauga Chargers at 10 a.m.; Toronto Patriots vs. Markham Royals at 11 a.m.; Buffalo Jr. Sabres vs. Cobourg Cougars at 1 p.m.; Trenton Golden Hawks vs. Oakville Blades at 2 p.m.; Lindsay Muskies vs. Milton Menace at 4 p.m.; Leamington Flyers vs. Wellington Dukes at 5 p.m.; Pickering Panthers vs. Caledon Admirals at 7 p.m.; and Burlington Cougars vs. Newmarket Hurricanes at 8 p.m.
