OJHL GOVERNORS’ SHOWCASE DAY TWO RECAP

Eight games and a tremendous scout turnout highlight Day Two of the Governors’ Showcase at the Gale Centre.

 

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – October 7, 2026 – The Ontario Junior Hockey League continued its 2026 Governors’ Showcase with eight games at the Gale Centre on Tuesday. The Toronto Patriots handed Markham its first loss after a 12-0 start, while Oakville, Milton and Pickering completed 2-0 Showcase records.

 

Day Two continued to draw a tremendous turnout of scouts, providing valuable exposure for OJHL players throughout the Showcase.

 

Toronto Warriors 4, Mississauga Chargers 1

Marcus Carter scored twice and added an assist as Toronto built a 2-0 first-period lead and answered a Mississauga goal in the second. Zachary Anderson had one goal and one assist, Matteo Mandarino recorded two assists, and Bogdan Bogomolov stopped 40 of 41 shots.

 

Toronto Patriots 7, Markham Royals 1

Toronto handed Markham its first loss after a 12-0 start. Lucas Balanyk scored twice, while Luke Howard, Dylan Nobili and Owen McGuckin each recorded one goal and one assist. The Patriots scored four times in the third period, and Trey Caracciolo stopped 29 of 30 shots.

 

Cobourg Cougars 6, Buffalo Jr. Sabres 1

Joseph Cadorin scored twice and added an assist, Cayden Smith recorded three assists, and Cobourg broke the game open with four second-period goals. Isaac Larmand and Briir Long each had one goal and one assist, while Carter Nadon stopped 27 of 28 shots.

 

Oakville Blades 5, Trenton Golden Hawks 2

Marcus Chiella scored a hat trick, including two power-play goals, as Oakville completed a 2-0 Showcase. Ben Austin collected three assists, Cam Godard had two assists, and Vaughn Barr stopped 31 of 33 shots. Trenton pulled within 3-2 early in the third before Oakville scored twice to close the game.

 

Milton Menace 6, Lindsay Muskies 2

Cam Lang recorded two goals and two assists, and Josh Currie scored twice as Milton also finished the Showcase 2-0. Don William Bristol had one goal and one assist, Chris Soares and Shayden Hintenberger each recorded two assists, and Austin McKillop stopped 26 of 28 shots.

 

Wellington Dukes 2, Leamington Flyers 1 SO

Dryden Riley stopped 48 of 49 shots through regulation and overtime before Wellington won in a five-round shootout. Kasen Beitz scored for Wellington in regulation, while Chase Pettipiece answered on the power play for Leamington. Zachary Mascard and Austin Ottenhof converted in the shootout, with Ottenhof scoring the decisive goal in the fifth round.

 

Pickering Panthers 11, Caledon Admirals 3

Pickering scored six times in the first period and went 5-for-9 on the power play. Ethan Toms recorded two goals and two assists, Blake Wright had one goal and three assists, and Travis Fortney scored twice and added an assist. Keaton Legacy also finished with one goal and two assists as Pickering completed a 2-0 Showcase.

 

Newmarket Hurricanes 2, Burlington Cougars 1

Nicholas Muzzatti and Daniel Vasic scored power-play goals for Newmarket, and Carter Froggett stopped 36 of 37 shots. Colin Ronalds brought Burlington within one at 6:25 of the third period, but the Hurricanes protected the lead to close Day Two.

 

Made for More

The Showcase also delivered a Made for More moment from its officiating team. When a linesman was hurt during a game, a referee who had just finished another game stepped back onto the ice to fill in as a linesman. It was a clear example of supporting one another and stepping up when needed.

 

Top Performers of the Day

Cam Lang of Milton and Ethan Toms of Pickering each recorded 2 goals, 2 assists and 4 points. Blake Wright of Pickering finished with 1 goal, 3 assists and 4 points.

 

Marcus Chiella of Oakville scored 3 goals, including two on the power play, for 3 points. Marcus Carter of Toronto and Joseph Cadorin of Cobourg each recorded 2 goals, 1 assist and 3 points. Keaton Legacy of Pickering had 1 goal, 2 assists and 3 points, while Cayden Smith of Cobourg and Ben Austin of Oakville each recorded 0 goals, 3 assists and 3 points.

 

Dryden Riley of Wellington stopped 48 of 49 shots. Bogdan Bogomolov of Toronto stopped 40 of 41 shots, Carter Froggett of Newmarket stopped 36 of 37, and Vaughn Barr of Oakville stopped 31 of 33. None of the Day Two goaltenders recorded a shutout.
