January 7, 2025, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Tyler Isherwood of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres has been named the West Conference Player-of-the-Month for December after he tallied 15 points (six goals/nine assists) during seven games.
Isherwood had a three-goal, one-assist game during the Jr. Sabres’ 5-4 overtime win at King on Dec. 13 and a goal and four assists in a 7-6 win over Burlington in Buffalo Dec. 18. He scored the game-winning goal in both games.
In his second season in Buffalo, the 20-year-old from Port Colborne leads the Jr. Sabres with 36 points (14 goals/22 assists) in 36 games. He had 47 points in 2023-24.
Isherwood and the Sabres visit the Oakville Blades Saturday and host the Mississauga Chargers Sunday.
Justin Dezoete of the Milton Menace was voted runner-up to Isherwood as the West Conference Player-of-the-Month. The Hamilton native scored four goals and added 10 assists in seven games. He had a hat trick, including the game-winner, in 5-2 victory over the Georgetown Raiders on Dec. 13.
Dezoete, who turned 21 on Jan. 2, was acquired by Milton from the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League on Nov. 30.
