Collingwood Blues win their series 4-0 and advance to 2nd round of postseason

The Collingwood Blues used a strong final forty minutes to defeat the King Rebellion 4–1 on Thursday night at the Zancor Centre.

King opened the scoring late in the first period when King finished a play from Castle and Manikis at 19:39, giving the Rebellion a 1–0 lead heading into the intermission.

Collingwood responded early in the second period as Palmer tied the game at 2:22, converting passes from Facchina and Boily. The Blues carried momentum through the frame and took the lead late when Palmer struck again at 19:46, finishing a setup from Stumpf and Facchina to make it 2–1.

The Blues added insurance in the third period. Thususka extended the lead to 3–1 at 8:01 with help from Hodgson, before Palmer completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal at 19:51, again assisted by Hodgson, sealing the 4–1 victory.

Collingwood outshot King 34–26 on the night. Bach earned the win in goal for the Blues with 25 saves, while Mavin made 30 saves for the Rebellion. Both teams went scoreless on the power play, each finishing 0-for-3.

With the win, the Blues win the series and advance to the second round of the postseason.
