Goaltender Jacob Gorinsky of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s St. Michael’s Buzzers has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division III Norwich University Cadets in Northfield, Vermont beginning with the 2025-26 season.
“Jake played an amazing 130 regular season games over his four years with us,” said Buzzers Head Coach and General Manager Rich Ricci. “Perhaps his best stretch was this past year’s playoffs where he was extremely good.
“A great teammate and leader in the room, I think Jake will take that desire and work ethic of his to Norwich and find great success. We wish him all the best.”
The 21-year-old signed with St. Mike’s from his hometown Oakville Rangers U18 team in 2021.
He went 17-13-0-4 with three shutouts, a 3.14 goals-against average and a 0.899 save percentage last season.
His numbers improved to 2.21 and 0.939 in the postseason.
“Playing in the OJHL for four years has been very rewarding,” Gorinsky told the OJHL. “It has allowed me to play against top talent every night and develop my skills to play at the next level.”
“I can’t thank the St. Michael’s Buzzers organization enough, Coach Rich Ricci and Vic Criscuolo have pushed me day in and day out to be a better person and a better hockey player. When you play for the Buzzers, you’re joining a brotherhood that will stand by you forever.”
“I am thrilled to announce my commitment to play for Norwich University in the NCAA. Their program, coaching staff and the education have made my decision easy. I can’t wait to get started there.”
Former OJHL players on last year’s roster at Norwich included: Devon Thibodeau (Cobourg), Hayden Heinrich, captain Cooper Bertrand and Ben van Waterschoot (Toronto Jr. Canadiens), Owen Sclisizzi (Collingwood Blues), Nick Cordeiro (North York) and Zach Ophoven (Toronto Patriots)
